We have approximately 100 sites. All sites have water, electric, and sewer hook-ups. Each has a poured concrete patio and many have a concrete slab for conveniently parking your RV on as well. Many of our sites can accommodate 40 feet long recreational vehicles, even with slide-outs. We open for the season on April 15 and close each year on October 15. If you don't have a camping trailer or RV, we also have a rustic cabin available for reservation. The air conditioned cabin, features a half bath and can sleep up to 6 people. Our campground is located on Packer Island, on beautiful Lake Augusta (the Susquehanna River). The
3,000 acre lake is formed by the Susquehanna River, in conjunction with the inflation of the Adam T. Bower Memorial Dam each summer. At 2,100 feet long, it is the world's longest inflatable dam. The lake averages 7-8 feet in depth. It is a popular area for water recreation, including boating, fishing, and swimming.
Fantasy Island Campground is unique, in that it once was an amusement park. The park, known as 'Island Park' is rumored to have hosted everybody from Dick Clark, to Chubby Checker. It featured a roller coaster called the 'Island Flyer.' After 2 years of construction beginning in 1924, the coaster survived for only 10 years (1926-1936) following a devastating flood in March of 1936. The park also had an Olympic sized swimming pool, skating rink, and penny arcade, all of which are unfortunately no longer in exhistence. However, what we currently use as our rec-room is what once housed the amusement park's carousel. It is a very unique feature to our campground. Our campground is located directly across from the beautiful Shikellamy State Park and only a very short ride to the astounding views from the Shikellamy Overlook. We are also just a short drive from America's largest FREE admission amusement park, Knoebel's Amusement Resort. Nearby are several area universities, as well as several local shopping centers, antique shops, flea markets, and more.
